Religious Education in our school has two parts: Religious Education and the Religious Life of the School (Religious Education Curriculum P-12 – Archdiocese of Brisbane). The Religious Education Curriculum includes the teaching of four strands: Sacred Texts, Beliefs, Church, and Christian Life. The Religious Life of the School, “teaching people to be religious in a particular way" (Moran, 1991), nurtures faith and spiritual growth by focusing on the areas of Religious Identity and Culture, Prayer and Worship, Evangelisation and Faith Formation, and Social Action and Justice.
Liturgies and other gatherings of prayer and worship are held regularly at our school. Every second Friday, a class leads a Prayer Assembly. All year levels participate in masses and or liturgies throughout the year and lead a St Dympna's Parish Mass once a year.
Social justice initiatives are central to our Christian values. Our school supports the poor and marginalised through service, fundraising, and by working with Catholic agencies such as CARITAS, Catholic Mission, St Vincent de Paul, and Aspley Care.
CHARISM
St Dympna’s School was founded in 1963 by two Sisters of St Joseph, enrolling ninety first-year students. The school is inspired by the Josephite congregation, established by St Mary MacKillop—a woman known for her energy and dedication to helping others. The Josephite charism and values guide the school's Vision and Mission.

2026 Theme - Shine Bright In God's Light
Our school theme, “Shine Bright in God’s Light,” invites each of us to recognise the spark of God’s love within and to let that light radiate throughout our community. Inspired by our motto, we are reminded that faith is lived, shared, and shown through our actions.
Throughout the year, students, staff, and families are encouraged to grow in confidence as disciples who reflect Christ’s compassion, hope, and joy. Together, we build on this discipleship by engaging in the religious life of the school and nurturing a shared faith. This theme also calls us outward, encouraging us to serve, include, and uplift others so that our community becomes a beacon of welcome and God’s guiding love.
Pastoral Care
A pastoral care program within the school ensures that community needs are met, through the Class/Parent Pastoral Representative system. As part of our pastoral care program, each class has a nominated Pastoral Care Parent. Pastoral Care Parents play a vital role in fostering a welcoming and supportive school community. They help build connections among families, staff, and students, offering practical support and encouragement throughout the year. Pastoral care parents may assist with classroom activities, support school events, and help new families settle in. Their involvement strengthens the partnership between home and school, ensuring every child feels included and cared for.
Parish Sacramental Program
The Sacramental Program is administered by the Parish, with students supported in their sacrament preparations at school.
